SIGNE
Signe
A. Dayhoff, Ph.D.,
M.A., M.Ed., is a Social Psychologist,
Cognitive-Behaviorist for Humans, Cat Communicator, and
Applied Cat Behaviorist with post-graduate
training in counseling who received her doctorate
from
Boston University.
For 27+
years she has been a consultant, educator, trainer,
author, speaker, and coach specializing in increasing
interpersonal communication and emotional intelligence
which she has also applied to the companion animal-human
bond.
She is a
certified administrator and interpreter of the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso
Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT) to increase
awareness for effective interpersonal communications in
general and in application to cats.
Over the
last several years, Dr. Signe also has been exploring the
science of creating happier, healthier, more engaged,
purposeful, meaningful, and fulfilled lives through
individuals connecting with their strengths and gratitude
to also apply to cat relationships.
As a result, she completed training with Dr. Martin E.P.
Seligman, who is author of Learned Optimism, and is a
Certified Authentic Happiness Coach.

Currently she
is president of Effectiveness-Plus Publications LLC, an
interpersonal and personal effectiveness development firm,
providing educational services and products to enhance
individual communications skills.
Prior to
Effectiveness-Plus, for ten years she was president of The
Mentoring Network, which provided mentoring, consulting, and
training with an emphasis on interpersonal and personal
skills. As a result of her doctoral research and work, she
chaired the Task Force on Mentoring for the American
Psychological Association.
She also has
taught psychology at Boston University, University of
Massachusetts, and Framingham State College and has done
research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Scripps
Clinic and Research Foundation, and Fairview State Hospital.
She has presented the findings of her own research
nationally.
Her latest
book, the new and improved 2nd Ed. of Diagonally-Parked
in a Parallel Universe: Working Through Social Anxiety (2010),
is the social phobic's bible and insider's scoop. Based upon
years of research with sufferers and consultation with the
pre-eminent clinical researchers in the field, it provides
education, treatment, and life-rebuilding strategies for
personal and interpersonal communication. Dr. Signe is
considered an authority in transforming social anxiety into
social effectiveness and uses many of these behavioral
strategies successfully with cats.
Notables, such
as Dr. Albert Ellis, have praised the book, the 1st
Ed. of which was consistently ranked among the ten
best-selling anxiety books on Amazon.com.
Author of four
other books,
she also
contributed to David Riklan's 101 Great Ways to Improve
Your Life (Vol. 2) and Steven J. Bennett's Executive
Chess: Creative Problem Solving By 45 of America's Top
Business Leaders and Thinkers.
She has over
331 published newspaper, magazine, ezine, and blog articles
and has been quoted in publications including Executive
Travel, Time Out New York, Boston Business
Journal, Shape, Industry Week, Wall
Street Journal, Success, and Cosmopolitan.
She has
appeared on the nationally-syndicated Doug Stephan's Good
Day, USA, Talk America Radio Network show, and local
radio and television programs. For over four years she
hosted and produced The Inside Track, the Continental
Cablevision career-education interview program for which she
received a Conti Award nomination.
Dr. Signe has

Cat lover,
rescuer, adopter, and foster parent since childhood, Dr.
Signe is "Kitty Mom" to rescued cats (mostly
senior and "special needs" cats). She also cat
communicates to socialize rescued animals for the all-volunteer, no-kill
non-profit CARMA (Companion Animal Rescue and Medical
Assistance), in Corrales, NM, to ready them for adoption to
