ADOPTABLE CATS FROM CARMA

CARMA (Companion Animal Rescue and Medical Assistance) is a no-kill, all-volunteer, non-profit 501 (c)(3) foster-care-based animal rescue group based in Sandoval County, New Mexico.

CARMA's mission is to address the multiple needs of abandoned, abused, and neglected companion animals (cats and dogs) and find loving homes for them.

CARMA works with local Animal Control organizations to intercept animals before they are euthanized, also working closely with Corrales Animal Control to facilitate the transfer of animals into foster care or adoptive homes.

While CARMA stresses local involvement, it will reach out to all communities to assist animals in need and to identify safe and appropriate placement.

Support for CARMA comes entirely from donations from the community and adoption fees. CARMA conducts special fundraisers throughout the year in an effort to support its ongoing medical expenses.

(Smoochie gives CARMA a rating.)

CARMA also seeks individuals who would like to sponsor a cat or dog or who would like to contribute to the upkeep and maintenance of several "halfway houses" run by CARMA volunteers. These halfway houses provide food, shelter, and medical care for cats until they find permanent, loving adoptive homes.

CARMA is currently in desperate need of cat fosters. They also need volunteers in a variety of capacities. (I'm a CARMA cat adopter and cat foster!)

Dakota is an incredibly sweet 1-year-old neutered boy
that just loves to play. He will chase a wand toy until he loses himself, looking
like a dog chasing his tail. He is really good with dogs, loves his food, and is a
very comical, fun kitty. "I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille."

Adopting a companion and friend

CARMA has a fee of $85-$100 for cats and dogs. The fee pays for the spay/neuter and age-appropriate vaccinations. The application process involves filling out a paper application and then going through a verbal screening with one of our members. They also do a home visit before adopting out the animal.
